The Client
Tech Guru
Who are they
Specializing in IT solution for accounting firms, Tech Guru helps firms choose, implement, and maintain the right technology for growth. The goal is to increase revenue and reduce costs by getting the right technology in place for each client.
Words First
Words lead to more sales. That's why we spend the time needed to get to know you and your ideal clients.
Problem
All company websites need to be top-notch to portray a sense of professionalism and trustworthiness, but for an IT company, it's even more critical. A site visitor is going to be very judgement of a tech company's website, as it reflects directly on their ability to provide good technical support.
Solution
Clarity & functionality and top priorities. There's no need to get clever with your main heading, just be clear. We suggested "IT for Accounting Firms" to ensure there was no confusion about who they are and what they do. Niching down to a specific industry that they serve makes it that much easier to target their messaging, address fears/obstacles, and paint a picture of success. Design-wise, we wanted something that was modern, clean, and sharp!
Top-Tier Design
Good design supports good messaging and increases brand authority.
Driving Design Concept:
As an IT support company for over 18 years, Tech Guru was ready for a website re-design that would speak directly to their target audience - Accounting Firms. They came to us with an established logo and color pallet of Black, Gray, Green and Orange. We chose to use black not only in headings and text but also as a primary background color. Black symbolizes not only mystery, but also power, and sophistication. Integrating IT processes can feel overwhelming for many business owners so the the black color meets them where they are at but also provides the sense of power they are finding through a potential partnership with Tech Guru. In contrast, the green provides high energy and liveliness and encourages the user to stay engaged, while also alluding to money, which is on the mind of any business owner. A 'tech-inspired' wave design is carried throughout the website to add movement and add a sense of fluidity to the website design, making the viewer feel calm and relaxed and custom infographics were created to help explain their process in a more visually appealing way.

Our Building Process
01. Platform & Technology
We build our sites on WordPress using an intuitive and easy-to-manage page builder (Beaver Builder). We do this primarily because our clients want a website that is simple enough for them to manage on their own: add blog posts, swap out images, make copy changes.
02. Functionality
Most websites we make are what we call "Marketing Sites." They exist to guide a prospective client through the get-to-know-you phase and hand them off to your sales team. Marketing Sites are generally very simple and do not require much beyond a contact form and Active Campaign integration.
Tech Guru has one special functionality element that took some figuring:
Instead of use a Call to Action button that took people to a contact page to fill out a form, Tech Guru wanted to allowed people to schedule a call directly through their Calendly scheduler. Originally we had a popup in place, but we ran into some complications with their Google Analytics tracking. Eventually, their analytics guy asked us to point their "Schedule A Call" CTA directly to a Calendly scheduling page.
Timeline
A standard website project takes between 11 and 16 weeks, depending on how responsive our clients are able to be when we need their input or feedback. Here are average timeframes:
Onboarding: 1 week
Messaging & Wireframes: 3 weeks
Design & Revisions: 3 weeks
Build: 3 weeks
Revisions: 4 weeks
Launch: 1 week
Tech Guru wasn't redesigning their entire website, just a home page facelift. We started the design phase Mar 17th and pushed it live on May 3rd, just short of 7 weeks!
