YGM

The Client

YGM

Who are they

YGM works with city cambers, running Total Resource Campaigns as a way to increase donations by securing business sponsors. They have a comprehensive platform, training program, and proven process making it easy for chambers to focus on their actual jobs. YGM also facilitates executive searches for organizations and communities.

"We approach chambers from a holistic viewpoint. They are called Total Resource Campaigns for a reason. We are concerned with the totality of your chamber resources. We want to help strengthen all of your chamber, not just one area."

Words First

Words lead to more sales. That's why we spend the time needed to get to know you and your ideal clients.

Problem

YGM's competitors have outdated websites that are informational, but not connective. Jason E Ebey needed a website that reflected both the effectiveness of their services, but also the reliability of his business. He has invested heavily in creating a culture of partnership and collaboration. He needed his website to reflect that. Not a typical "Here's what we do" website, but something that showed a deep understanding of the problems that Camber leaders face. See YGM's old website.

Solution

Victoria Payne at Boxcar Writing Labs and Kyle Sexton worked with Jason and the YGM team to craft a messaging strategy that was simple, holistic, and connective. They clearly articulated the services offered (for clarity's sake) and spent a good amount of website real estate connecting with their ideal client about the real issues they are facing: 1. What you're dreaming about is possible. 2. You can focus on what you really want to, without worrying about funding.

Keep reading to learn about how we used design the site to meet their business need and present their professionalism to the world.

Top-Tier Design

Good design supports good messaging and increases brand authority.

Driving Design Concept:

YGM needed a website that would cater to female Chamber of Commerce professionals. We created a vibrant color scheme of teal, orange, and navy to coincide with their existing gray and orange logo. The use of colorful headlines, overlapping elements, and subtle background patterns creates an engaging experience and allows the user to easily navigate through the website.

We used subtle references to their logo throughout the site with orange triple-lines and light grey curved lines.

It is hard to see, but this subtle arch used in the background throughout the site ties everything together in a beautiful way. We also used the three orange lines to reference their logo.

Our Building Process

01. Platform & Technology

We build our sites on WordPress using an intuitive and easy-to-manage page builder (Beaver Builder). We do this primarily because our clients want a website that is simple enough for them to manage on their own: add blog posts, swap out images, make copy changes.

02. Functionality

YGM was building a holistic email drip campaign and needed to integrate their Constant Contact account with their website forms. This is usually an easy integration as long as your developer has access to your account or an API key.

Some of the plugins we used:

Timeline

A standard website project takes between 11 and 16 weeks, depending on how responsive our clients are able to be when we need their input or feedback. Here are average timeframes:

Onboarding: 1 week

Messaging & Wireframes: 3 weeks

Design & Revisions: 3 weeks

Build: 3 weeks

Revisions: 4 weeks

Launch: 1 week

We started the YGM project on Jan 20th and launched the site on May 25th. The total project was 18 weeks.
