MN Employment Center

The Client

MN Employment Center

Who are they

MN Employment Center serves the Dead, Deafblind, and Hard-of-Hearing communities, providing assistance in acquiring jobs as well as support in their jobs.

As a sister organization to Rise.org, another non-profit whose website we wrote and built, it was natural for MN Employment Center to come to us to help rebuild their site on the same user-friendly platform as Rise.org.

Words First

Words lead to more sales. That's why we spend the time needed to get to know you and your ideal clients.

Meet Our Spearhead:

Paige Worthy

Paige is one of our trusted StoryBrand-certified guides. We often look to her when working with clients in the non-profit industry. She has an exceptional ability to see and understand important causes that fuel these organizations. She has a causal, fun method of drawing out authentic language that is personable and connective.

Problem

Starting with a single-page website, MN Employment Center wasn't ready for a full website redesign. They need guidance on messaging but weren't ready for the full StoryBrand treatment. They also needed their site rebuilt on WordPress with a more user-friendly page builder.

Solution

Since we had an established relationship with their sister company, Rise.org, we crafted a custom solution: A few coaching sessions with one of our trusted StoryBrand-certified guides and a site rebuild on Flywheel, using Beaver Builder. We shifted from a single-page site adding "Employer Services" and "Our Team" to the site map. While rebuilding their site, we enacted some design changes to increase the professionalism and user experience of the site.

Top-Tier Design

Good design supports good messaging and increases brand authority.

Driving Design Concept:

MN Employment Center was in need of a new website that would serve the Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard-of-Hearing community. They came to us with an established brand and color pallet. We wanted to retain some of the design elements from their sister site, Rise.org to maintain a cohesive feel. The ultimate goal was to create a highly accessible website that would cater to those with vision/hearing impairments or their caretakers. We accomplished this using bold easy-to-read typography along with a high contrast color pallet along with clearly defined sections and clear call to action buttons.

Our Building Process

01. Platform & Technology

We build our sites on WordPress using an intuitive and easy-to-manage page builder (Beaver Builder). We do this primarily because our clients want a website that is simple enough for them to manage on their own: add blog posts, swap out images, make copy changes.

02. Functionality

Most websites we make are what we call "Marketing Sites." They exist to guide a prospective client through the get-to-know-you phase and hand them off to your sales team. Marketing Sites are generally very simple and do not require much beyond a contact form and Active Campaign integration.

Some of the plugins we used:

Timeline

A standard website project takes between 11 and 16 weeks, depending on how responsive our clients are able to be when we need their input or feedback. Here are average timeframes:

Onboarding: 1 week

Messaging & Wireframes: 3 weeks

Design & Revisions: 3 weeks

Build: 3 weeks

Revisions: 4 weeks

Launch: 1 week

Our kick-off call for MN Employment Center was Jan 20th and we launched the new site on May 4th for a total of 15 weeks.
