Bluebotics
The Client
Bluebotics
Who are they
Bluebotics is from the future. No, really. They manufacture and sell automated robots! As an international innovator and pioneer of automation technology, Bluebotics needed a website that matched their reputation.
Words First
Words lead to more sales. That's why we spend the time needed to get to know you and your ideal clients.
Problem
Bluebotics sells a high-dollar product: robots. You read that right. Autonomous robots that are definitely not trying to take over the world and become our robot overlords. When you have a high-dollar product, you need a website that represents the quality and luxury of your brand. That means a microscopic attention to detail in both design and copy. Bluebotics had an in-house designer who knew precisely what they needed. Our job was to implement it, which required creative solutions (which we LOVE).
Solution
This project was the one that finally convinced us that we should use SVG images whenever possible. SVG images are vector based and will scale to any size you need without losing that sharp, defined edge. WordPress sites not natively accept SVG image imports and adding and entire plugin to fill that role is a great way to bog down a site. We had our build team write a simple PHP function that allows us to upload SVG images now. You can see the impact in the image-based navigation menu that they use on every page. All the images are sharp and crisp. Other custom solutions included a sweet time carousel for their company history and a multi-lingual system since they are a truly international company.
Top-Tier Design
Good design supports good messaging and increases brand authority.
Driving Design Concept:
This was a unique project for us in that Bluebotics had their own in-house designer. We did not create the design for this site, but we had VERY specific guidance as to how we were supposed to implement their pre-established design. Thankfully, they designed in XD (which is the same tool our team uses) so we were able to engage with their design easily.

Our Building Process
01. Platform & Technology
We build our sites on WordPress using an intuitive and easy-to-manage page builder (Beaver Builder). We do this primarily because our clients want a website that is simple enough for them to manage on their own: add blog posts, swap out images, make copy changes.
02. Functionality
Most websites we make are what we call "Marketing Sites." They exist to guide a prospective client through the get-to-know-you phase and hand them off to your sales team. Marketing Sites are generally very simple and do not require much beyond a contact form and Active Campaign integration.
BlueBotics had many special functionality elements:
- As an international organization, they needed a multi-lingual plugin to translate the site into French, Chinese, German, and Italian.
- They wanted a custom drop-down navigation that included SVG graphics that represented their products and services.
- Custom scrolling sections that displayed different image and corresponding copy as it scrolled through.
- Custom Accordions for their Team section, where the entire team member box opens a mini bio below it.
Timeline
A standard website project takes between 11 and 16 weeks, depending on how responsive our clients are able to be when we need their input or feedback. Here are average timeframes:
Onboarding: 1 week
Messaging & Wireframes: 3 weeks
Design & Revisions: 3 weeks
Build: 3 weeks
Revisions: 4 weeks
Launch: 1 week
We had our kick-off call with Bee Clean on Feb 17th and launched their site on June 1st. That's just short of 15 weeks!
