Craftsmen Home Improvements
The Client
Craftsmen Home Improvements
Who are they
Craftmen has been in the business of remodeling homes for a LONG time. They have a solid reputation and long history of happy clients. They knew it was time to update their website, but they needed the messaging to be just right.
Words First
Words lead to more sales. That's why we spend the time needed to get to know you and your ideal clients.
Problem
Craftsmen had been around for decades. They are a trusted name for side, roofing, and windows. But they had a website that looked as old as their company. They need a modern, update style as well as clear messaging and easy user experience.
Solution
A hyper-clear call to action takes pressure off of a site visitor. "Get a Free Estimate" was the perfect call to action as it also positioned Craftsmen as a generous company that gives things away for free. We repeated the CTA all throughout the site so that there was no question: the first step in getting service was to schedule an estimate. Website visitors don't want to be hoodwinked. They want to know exactly what it is you want them to do. That way they can make an informed decision. We also placed a free ebook (with email capture) on the homepage: "9 Tips To An Awesome Contractor Experience." Free content that a visitor could find valuable and an opportunity for Craftsmen to follow up with the prospect later.
Top-Tier Design
Good design supports good messaging and increases brand authority.
Driving Design Concept:
Our goal when designing Craftsmen's website was to mirror the same strength and reliability they offer in their products and services. Through the use of bold san serif typography, clean lines and lots of authentic photography, we were able to create a website that displays the trust and authority Craftsmen has established in the home improvement field.

Our Building Process
01. Platform & Technology
We build our sites on WordPress using an intuitive and easy-to-manage page builder (Beaver Builder). We do this primarily because our clients want a website that is simple enough for them to manage on their own: add blog posts, swap out images, make copy changes.
02. Functionality
Most websites we make are what we call "Marketing Sites." They exist to guide a prospective client through the get-to-know-you phase and hand them off to your sales team. Marketing Sites are generally very simple and do not require much beyond a contact form and Active Campaign integration.
Craftsmen Home Improvements wanted to highlight their services:
- They wanted individual pages for each service, with child pages for specialized building materials.
- They had a number of video testimonials that they wanted to use throughout the site.
Timeline
A standard website project takes between 11 and 16 weeks, depending on how responsive our clients are able to be when we need their input or feedback. Here are average timeframes:
Onboarding: 1 week
Messaging & Wireframes: 3 weeks
Design & Revisions: 3 weeks
Build: 3 weeks
Revisions: 4 weeks
Launch: 1 week
We had our kick-off call with Craftsmen in early March and launched their site in August after 25 weeks. Working on a website with a construction company during the busy season can make it challenging to keep a project on track with our ideal timeline.
