Patrick Accounting
The Client
Patrick Accounting
Who are they
Patrick Accounting is not your typical, stuffy number-cruncher. They work with small businesses to help them meet their goals, making the numbers less daunting and more fun. I know, a huge undertaking!
"Our ideal clients are restaurants, service-based businesses, and brick-and-mortar retail stores with annual revenues above $350k. We sometimes work with smaller businesses, but in most cases, the cost of a monthly accountant doesn't make sense for a start-up or micro-business."
Words First
Words lead to more sales. That's why we spend the time needed to get to know you and your ideal clients.
Meet Our Spearhead:
Matt Banker
Matt works directly with Patrick Accounting and Whirks (sister organization) as a marketing consultant and strategist. Much more that just a website copywriter, Matt provides high-level direction and insight for all levels of digital present and online marketing.
Problem
Accounting and Bookkeeping is a necessary evil for most business owners. There are many obstacles that a potential client may have when considering hiring an accountant.
Are they professional? Are they trustworthy? Are they affordable?
Solution
We crafted messaging specifically targeting the aspirational idea of the "Business you've always wanted." We made direct connections between accounting and their goals. This isn't just about crunching numbers, this is about pursuing your business dreams.
In both design and messaging, we kept things simple. Too much content sends a "this is complex" message. We wanted site users to feel, "Oh, that's not hard! I can do that!" A simple 3-step plan bring this home.
Top-Tier Design
Good design supports good messaging and increases brand authority.
Driving Design Concept:
Patrick Accounting wanted to modernize their website and better reflect the streamlined services they offer. We brightened up the site using bold sans-serif typography, clean white spaces and overlapping elements. The high contrast color pallet used in both the typography and design elements carries the user effortlessly down the page.

Our Building Process
01. Platform & Technology
We build our sites on WordPress using an intuitive and easy-to-manage page builder (Beaver Builder). We do this primarily because our clients want a website that is simple enough for them to manage on their own: add blog posts, swap out images, make copy changes.
02. Functionality
Most websites we make are what we call "Marketing Sites." They exist to guide a prospective client through the get-to-know-you phase and hand them off to your sales team. Marketing Sites are generally very simple and do not require much beyond a contact form and Active Campaign integration.
Patrick Accounting had two special functionality elements:
- A Client Center drop down menu in their header with quick links to anywhere an existing client may need to go.
- We created a quick-reference pricing section as well as a detailed comparison table on their Pricing page.
Timeline
A standard website project takes between 11 and 16 weeks, depending on how responsive our clients are able to be when we need their input or feedback. Here are average timeframes:
Onboarding: 1 week
Messaging & Wireframes: 3 weeks
Design & Revisions: 3 weeks
Build: 3 weeks
Revisions: 4 weeks
Launch: 1 week
We started the Patrick Accounting refresh on Dec 5th and launched it on Jan 30th, just 8 weeks over the holiday season.
