23 of our most ridiculous Tweets and funny advertisements
Sep 9, 2022
We started a dark humor / funny advertisements campaign. Here’s some highlights.
When it comes to websites, clear is always better than clever. Often times we have to talk our client out of using clever tag lines that add confusion. People come to your website to learn about your business, find out if you can solve their problem, and decide if you are trustworthy or not. If you are not clear and concise, you will lose them.
Social media is a different animal. People are doom-scrolling through their feeds, annoyed at all the ads they’re seeing when they just want to see a funny video of a cat wearing a hat. In the social media game, you need arrest people’s attention. Funny advertisements can be a great way to get them to pause long enough to engage with your content and maybe follow you. Overtime you can build up a report with them and when they need your services, they know where to find you.
A few months ago we decided to start a “dark humor” / funny advertisements campaign for Banker Creative. Why?
- That style of humor comes naturally for our team. Sometimes the best way to engage with people is to be as natural as possible without filtering what comes out of your team’s creative brains (too much). Coming up with social media content is a lot of work. It’s easier to produce content when it is a natural expression of your team’s authentic personality.
- Humor is a great way to stand out. If you can make your offering clear in the midst of the humor, even better.
- It’s fun for us. This might seem like a flighty reason, but creating goofy, ridiculous posts makes this a better place to work!
Here are some of our favorite Tweets from the last few months:
1. So. Bad.
This one one of our firsts and still holds a special place in my heart. The infallible logic here in undeniable. And the legal “don’t blame us if it doesn’t work” jargon makes me giggle.
Stop blaming it on society dissolving into a chaotic dumpster fire. No, it's not because of the pervasive moral demise of our country. It's definitely your website. https://t.co/EoIAjRgVvh— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) June 28, 2022
*we make no promises to restore a relationship with your kids by redesigning your site* pic.twitter.com/TDZlsG2rcl
2. Lacking Empathy
This one was a bit controversial. We got some pushback on Facebook. “Are you really posting this online? Do you really want to associate yourself with terrible people?” Sometimes the humor is just lost on people.
You're not a bad person for having a website that is hideous and confusing. You're a bad person because you lack empathy and don't care about people who are different than you. We can help with the website stuff. https://t.co/EoIAjRgVvh pic.twitter.com/yRGwm9n6gX— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) July 5, 2022
3. Life Sucks
This one is beautiful in its simplicity. I will let it speak for itself.
4. But, seriously, go to therapy
Sometime the funniest jokes are the ones that hit really close to home. We’ve all been feeling this lately, haven’t we? The terribly-cropped flames give off strong fire-and-brimstone vibes that are so near and dear to my heart. Juxtaposed against the happy-smiley office workers, this one makes me laugh every time.
Why pay for a therapist to help you deal with your crippling anxiety when you could have a BRAND NEW WEBSITE?! 😱 https://t.co/EoIAjRgVvh#butseriouslygototherapy #webdesign #marketing #darkhumor pic.twitter.com/QGPgZuZOUj— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) July 19, 2022
5. Just hide it.
The best part about this one is the over-styled haircut on this kid who is wearing a suit that he can’t afford, but was probably gifted to him from his obscenely rich uncle.
6. Mid-life crisis
I feel like I need to preface this one by saying that I am divorced so I’m allowed to make this joke. Divorce is obviously horrible and painful… which is exactly why we need to find a way to laugh about it!
Cheating on your partner may SOUND like more fun, but think about all the lawyer fees, therapy sessions, devastated children, and liquor bills! Trust us, a new website is the better way to go. #webdesign #midlifecrisis #darkhumor https://t.co/EoIAjRgVvh pic.twitter.com/ZDrT7usGeM— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) July 28, 2022
7. Show you’re ex how good your life is.
I swear, if anyone follows one of these tweets like we’re giving out actual good advice, I’m going to have to quit my job and hide before the internet mobs cancel me. Please don’t take our funny advertisements too seriously.
Living well is the best revenge, or so they say. Guess it's time to get that new website and make your ex regret their decision with every fiber of their being! #webdesign #darkhumor #revenge #livingwell https://t.co/EoIAjRgVvh pic.twitter.com/mAqTfjtw5M— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) August 2, 2022
8. Tinder Rejection
Following on the relationship thread, this tweet hits TOO close to home. I should delete this one. God, I’m lonely.
Being rejected on #tinder is emotionally exhausting. Why not start a site redesign project instead? Consider this: 1. A web design team isn't going to say (to your face) that you are not interesting. 2. Actually, that's all we've got. #darkhumor https://t.co/EoIAjRgVvh pic.twitter.com/ZA2rbpZJaN— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) August 4, 2022
Confession: I got suckered into a pyramid scheme when I was in my early twenties. So glad I work for a company that will never pull that crap on people.
Not that we have scheme that you could join even if we wanted you to 😬. But, we are willing to entertain reasonable offers! Shoot your shot 🎯. What scheme should we join? In the meantime, rebuild your website. https://t.co/iiYLpj0Ihz pic.twitter.com/XOiuRdn4hZ— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) August 9, 2022
10. & 11. Boomers vs. Millennials
These two go hand in hand. The age-old rivalry between Boomers and Millennials. We’re just here to stoke the fires and make everyone angry.
Millennials and their avocado toast and froth-art on their fancy-ass coffee drinks. Time to PUT THEM IN THEIR PLACE! We can build you a #website that will make them go crying home to their mommies (because they don't suppress their emotions like real men). https://t.co/iiYLpj0Ihz pic.twitter.com/fEwrQysmUX— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) August 11, 2022
We get it. You're mad because you will always live under the crushing weight of #schooldebt, never be able to afford a #mortgage, and working a job with no #pension or #retirement. But, think of how dumb #boomers will look with your sweet new #website! https://t.co/iiYLpj0Ihz pic.twitter.com/inbRwYYHKY— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) August 18, 2022
12. Amazon Packages
I making connections between things that have nothing to do with each other. Also, who is buying a rechargeable massaging seat cushion?
The last thing you want is to hire a website agency and suddenly all your #amazon packages 📦 are disappearing from your porch. Protect your new rechargeable, massaging seat cushion 💺 and hire Banker Creative! #websites #webdesign https://t.co/iiYLpj0Ihz pic.twitter.com/bGQNoNz91G— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) August 16, 2022
13. Life sucking relationships.
I really hit the jackpot with the video clip on this one. The eye-roll fits just perfectly!
Please annotate on the contact form that you need to an escape from reality because you just can't anymore and we will make sure to draw out the process as long as you need. https://t.co/1AyO33dl9n #toxicrelationship #life-sucking #newwebsite #webdesign pic.twitter.com/hioqyzArn9— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) August 17, 2022
14. Everything is the worst
I love making fun of the absurdity of life and transforming it into funny advertisements.
We get it. People are the worst. So are things. Things are terrible. But, even so, you still should love your website! https://t.co/iiYLpjij97 #hate #webdesign #darkhumor #makeanexception #loveyourwebsite pic.twitter.com/VgrJg4zpaT— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) August 19, 2022
15. A dig on a certain billionaire
I’m sure it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to figure out who this tweet is referencing. But, rest assured, we will never follow in his footsteps!
In case you're worried about us getting so rich that we'll abandon you all and find a new planet to live on, let me put your fears to rest. 100% guarantee that we won't build a 🚀 with your hard earned money. https://t.co/iiYLpj0Ihz pic.twitter.com/645gwQd12C— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) August 23, 2022
16. We are humans
I thought we should put some rumors to rest here. As you can see from the very-human articulation in this post, we are absolutely not martians trying to take over the world.
We promise we are actual human beings who do normal human things like… consuming biological matter to sustain our weak and primitive bodies? https://t.co/iiYLpj1g77 #wearehumans #marketingforhumansfromhumans #longlivemars pic.twitter.com/90t8poEYNR— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) August 24, 2022
17. A chasing after the wind
This giraffe needs to see a shrink, for sure!
18. Don’t be like Satan
This was is a bit edgy. Not sure it will connect with everyone out there, but I had a little snicker while making it! I had a hard time thinking of which atrocious character from history I could embed in this post and decided, “Go big or go home!” After-all, that’s why we started this whole funny advertisements campaign in the first place!
19. Flat Earthers
If you don’t get the “SMRT” reference, you’re obviously not a Simpson’s buff. Watch this video for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wv4eTE0aUiQ
20. Do whatever you want.
I’m from the midwest. We excel at passive aggressive speech. So, this tweet is like speaking my native tongue. Maybe all these funny advertisements are my native tongue.
21. Pied Piper
I am only slightly worried that we’ll hire someone someday who will make me regret ever saying this.
We're not like those other agencies who are trying to steal your kids from your homes as an act of revenge… which, to me, seems like a great reason to hire us! #darkhumor #funnyadvertisement pic.twitter.com/jvrNsIh3X9— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) September 5, 2022
22. Dumpster Fire
The volatile state of the world feels a little bit like low-hanging fruit, but I’ll take it.
23. Mid-life Crisis, Round 2
Sometimes you really need to hone in on your target market. Who really needs a new website? Middle aged men who are in the midst of crisis. Perfect.
The average cost of a midlife crisis has gone up by 43% since [insert date here]. You've got a sports car to buy, an international holiday to finance, a lover to silence… It's not cheap! Get ahead of the game with a new website today! #midlifecrisis #website #marketing pic.twitter.com/uSOUnLlS4E— Banker Creative (@banker_creative) September 8, 2022
