23 of our most ridiculous Tweets and funny advertisements

Sep 9, 2022

We started a dark humor / funny advertisements campaign. Here’s some highlights.

When it comes to websites, clear is always better than clever. Often times we have to talk our client out of using clever tag lines that add confusion. People come to your website to learn about your business, find out if you can solve their problem, and decide if you are trustworthy or not. If you are not clear and concise, you will lose them.

Social media is a different animal. People are doom-scrolling through their feeds, annoyed at all the ads they’re seeing when they just want to see a funny video of a cat wearing a hat. In the social media game, you need arrest people’s attention. Funny advertisements can be a great way to get them to pause long enough to engage with your content and maybe follow you. Overtime you can build up a report with them and when they need your services, they know where to find you.

A few months ago we decided to start a “dark humor” / funny advertisements campaign for Banker Creative. Why?

  1. That style of humor comes naturally for our team. Sometimes the best way to engage with people is to be as natural as possible without filtering what comes out of your team’s creative brains (too much). Coming up with social media content is a lot of work. It’s easier to produce content when it is a natural expression of your team’s authentic personality.
  2. Humor is a great way to stand out. If you can make your offering clear in the midst of the humor, even better.
  3. It’s fun for us. This might seem like a flighty reason, but creating goofy, ridiculous posts makes this a better place to work!

Here are some of our favorite Tweets from the last few months:

1. So. Bad.

This one one of our firsts and still holds a special place in my heart. The infallible logic here in undeniable. And the legal “don’t blame us if it doesn’t work” jargon makes me giggle.

2. Lacking Empathy

This one was a bit controversial. We got some pushback on Facebook. “Are you really posting this online? Do you really want to associate yourself with terrible people?” Sometimes the humor is just lost on people.

3. Life Sucks

This one is beautiful in its simplicity. I will let it speak for itself.

4. But, seriously, go to therapy

Sometime the funniest jokes are the ones that hit really close to home. We’ve all been feeling this lately, haven’t we? The terribly-cropped flames give off strong fire-and-brimstone vibes that are so near and dear to my heart. Juxtaposed against the happy-smiley office workers, this one makes me laugh every time.

5. Just hide it.

The best part about this one is the over-styled haircut on this kid who is wearing a suit that he can’t afford, but was probably gifted to him from his obscenely rich uncle.

6. Mid-life crisis

I feel like I need to preface this one by saying that I am divorced so I’m allowed to make this joke. Divorce is obviously horrible and painful… which is exactly why we need to find a way to laugh about it!

7. Show you’re ex how good your life is.

I swear, if anyone follows one of these tweets like we’re giving out actual good advice, I’m going to have to quit my job and hide before the internet mobs cancel me. Please don’t take our funny advertisements too seriously.

8. Tinder Rejection

Following on the relationship thread, this tweet hits TOO close to home. I should delete this one. God, I’m lonely.

9. MLM

Confession: I got suckered into a pyramid scheme when I was in my early twenties. So glad I work for a company that will never pull that crap on people.

10. & 11. Boomers vs. Millennials

These two go hand in hand. The age-old rivalry between Boomers and Millennials. We’re just here to stoke the fires and make everyone angry.

12. Amazon Packages

I making connections between things that have nothing to do with each other. Also, who is buying a rechargeable massaging seat cushion?

13. Life sucking relationships.

I really hit the jackpot with the video clip on this one. The eye-roll fits just perfectly!

14. Everything is the worst

I love making fun of the absurdity of life and transforming it into funny advertisements.

15. A dig on a certain billionaire

I’m sure it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to figure out who this tweet is referencing. But, rest assured, we will never follow in his footsteps!

16. We are humans

I thought we should put some rumors to rest here. As you can see from the very-human articulation in this post, we are absolutely not martians trying to take over the world.

17. A chasing after the wind

This giraffe needs to see a shrink, for sure!

18. Don’t be like Satan

This was is a bit edgy. Not sure it will connect with everyone out there, but I had a little snicker while making it! I had a hard time thinking of which atrocious character from history I could embed in this post and decided, “Go big or go home!” After-all, that’s why we started this whole funny advertisements campaign in the first place!

19. Flat Earthers

If you don’t get the “SMRT” reference, you’re obviously not a Simpson’s buff. Watch this video for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wv4eTE0aUiQ

20. Do whatever you want.

I’m from the midwest. We excel at passive aggressive speech. So, this tweet is like speaking my native tongue. Maybe all these funny advertisements are my native tongue.

21. Pied Piper

I am only slightly worried that we’ll hire someone someday who will make me regret ever saying this.

22. Dumpster Fire

The volatile state of the world feels a little bit like low-hanging fruit, but I’ll take it.

23. Mid-life Crisis, Round 2

Sometimes you really need to hone in on your target market. Who really needs a new website? Middle aged men who are in the midst of crisis. Perfect.

Well, there you have it! 23 of our most ridiculous funny advertisements and Tweets.
